The reeds were so tall in this marsh that I had to shoot through them (or on my tippy toes to shoot barely over them) to get pictures of the ducks, which kind of made it look like I was hiding from them to sneak some shots of them. They definitely didn’t see me as I could hardly see them!

Apparently ducks hang out in the fountain of this hotel’s lobby and every morning at 11am the ducks come down the elevator from their home on the rooftop or penthouse or I’m not really sure…and they walk the red carpet to the fountain. Then at 5pm each afternoon they walk the red carpet back to the elevator to return home, where ever that may be.
We did not make it over there to see them even though we were staying at the Holiday Inn right across the street because we were too busy with my daughter’s volleyball tournament all weekend.

Brace for the fall?
And hope for a safe landing and a happy ending like swimming away with a good friend?
It is sad where my thoughts have been lately: focusing too much on the outward appearance of things. Being too self-critical, too negative, too judgmental.
Fear is at the root of all these things. Fear of imperfections, fear of growing old; ultimately, fear of death. In Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Four Agreements, he says if only we can face the Angel of Death and live everyday as if it is our last, we can lose our fears and finally know peace and happiness.
Can you face your fears and focus on the positive?
Caught these two out on the pond by themselves going for an afternoon swim on a particularly mild February day.
