Seasons and More
I went exploring last week and found a great new place to take clients for portrait sessions. I am shooting a family there this Friday. Can’t wait!

I have been busy setting up my new portrait photography business! I finally took the plunge and made the name, “Offshoots Photography,” official by registering it with the Secretary of State. I also registered with the Department of Revenue for my retail sales license; applied for my local business license; hired a company to do my logo, here it is:
I hired the same company to design my business cards; created a Facebook Page (Like it here); created a website (check it out here); created all my forms from scratch; aaaaaand….the most exciting thing:
I had my first official portrait session yesterday! So exciting! I won’t be blogging about them here, but instead on my business blog at Offshoots Photography Blog.
There’s nothing there yet, but will be soon, so make sure to follow.
In the meantime, I will be posting here again, as well, now that the business is mostly set up. Here are some pet portraits of my pooches. I can’t believe I actually got them to sit still long enough to take these.
I do post daily on Instagram, so follow me there, too, @offshoots_photography.
I’ve been very busy editing hundreds of images from high school events including senior pictures, volleyball games, a powder puff game and homecoming. Here is one of my favorite candid shots of my daughter on homecoming night and a photo of her pretty corsage.
I mentioned the other day that I was using a new post-processing program called Capture One Pro 9 and loving it. Since I mostly shoot nature photography, yesterday, I practiced taking some portraits of my lovely daughter, Caitlin. In this one she is backlit by the bright afternoon sun.

I complained about not having a reflector to chase the shadows away from her face. (Husband later went out and got me a 5-in-1 reflector kit. Love him; can’t wait to use it!) Yet, even without the reflector I was able to adjust for under-exposed Caitlin (AND the over-exposed sky) in Capture One.
What do you think? So, I’m a little excited because I have never worked with a RAW converter before. Thanks for bearing with me. 🙂
Thank goodness summer break is here and all of the end-of-the-school-year busy-ness is over! These are for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Heads or Facial Features.
No Fair! Poor girl’s been in a knee brace and walking boot for almost 2 weeks now. Hopefully, only one more to go. Those darn growing pains!
Self-reflection. 🙂
This is for The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Reward. One of the biggest rewards of being a mom is getting those hugs. I love, love, love them!
