Looking Ahead to the New Year

Here is a pic of my Christmas tree.

So far, it has been an enjoyable holiday season. I got all of my Christmas shopping done online on cyber Monday. I’ve done all of my holiday shopping online for several years now and I love it. It is so quick and convenient and best of all, I never have to deal with crowds or wait in lines!

I have some changes coming to this blog in 2025. I’ve decided to move all of my interests that are spread out across different Instagram accounts solely to this blog. So be prepared for more content than just my usual nature pictures.

I will be adding some ICM photography, old photos restorations, and posts related to mental health and chronic illness (migraine). And hopefully, I can even tie together ways in which these topics intersect with one another. For example, photography is a form of therapy for me that contributes positively to my mental health.

Another change coming up is probably a new design for the blog site with menus for easy access to new categories I will be adding based on the aforementioned topics.

Please visit my updated About page for a quick read of my new purpose statement for this blog going forward and tell me what you think!

Much thanks.

Sheila

PS I am also going to stop mentioning which camera I used under my photos but feel free to ask if you are curious and I will let you know. 😊

Your tree is so pretty. I like how the lights are shining in the portraits on the wall.

so cool and exciting to implement changes on a blog. i think, after all is said and done, platforms like wordpress will remain far more meaningful than the ethereal video apps. twitter (or X) may be another one but it’s become more a functionality for me.

by the way, what is ICM photography?

also, I did notice the camera you were using. did you recently purchase that unit? I actually tell people that if I were to start over again in photography, I would probably go with the A7 III.

It’ll be cool to see the new site updates. Have a good one! Mike

I’ve had WordPress sites for over 13 years. This one in particular for 11 years. I do think you’re right about it being more meaningful, and sustainable too, than places like Instagram and tik Tok.

ICM is intentional camera movement photography. It involves creating abstract images by moving the camera while the shutter is open. Slow shutter speed is key.

I got my A7 III a few years ago and I love it paired with the sigma 24-70mm lens.

I have made most of the updates to the site already as of an hour or so ago. There is a drop down of the main categories on the home page if you are interested in seeing some examples of ICM photography.

      Thanks for your comments! 🙂

Thanks, Linda! I’m nervous about bringing everything together to one place. It’s been so compartmentalized the whole time. My brain likes things each in its own box so I am challenging myself here. Wish me luck 🤞🏻
