Frozen Beauty: Navigating the Icy Peril of a Snowy Lake at Sunset

In my previous snowy landscape post I mentioned how excited I was to be able to drive around while there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground. I live in the midwest and we don’t know how to handle snow like some of the northeastern states. We kind of freeze (no pun intended) when it comes to snow removal and functioning after a big storm.

I went to a nearby park where they had done a great job of clearing the drives but not the walking paths.

roads through the park
walking path down to and around the lake
another treacherous walking path around the lake

Needless to say I didn’t walk far for fear of falling with my expensive Sony a7 III and my even more priceless life and limbs but I still managed to get some pretty sunset pictures around the lake.

i love the colors in the sky here
ducks hanging out around the fountain

My favorite picture of the lake is below.

so serene

It is cold. I think I prefer it to the heat though.

They’re all great, but I especially love the S bend in the road – it has a sweep that says “adventure ahead” Linda xx
