Nature Photography Day

Almost missed it – had to pop out my front door and take some nature photos. They are my favorite kind of photos to make! I’m mostly partial to landscapes but these will do for today.

All taken with Sony A7 III and edit in Lightroom

What is your favorite type of photography?

wow! that A7III really really shines on texture and gradual color shifts – but it needs the right photographer and the one behind these pictures certainly is the one 🙂 enjoyed these photos! we both don’t have an excuse now that all the flowers are out to not take pictures haha Mike

Thanks Mike. I appreciate the nice compliment. I am happy with the first photo. The focus is off on the second one. I wish I would have used a smaller aperture with so many layers of flowers and greenery. My eyes aren’t what they used to be so I get lazy and don’t check for it in the camera after I take it. I need to use manual focus more in these situations too, I think, but again I admit to being a lazy photographer lol. I just enjoy making pictures without trying to be too technical and perfect about it. I do have the goal of using manual focus more though. I just learned about infinity focus with landscape photos that I want to try. Here’s to many more photo outings this summer!

really? that’s so cool you aim to shoot manual focus more! i feel the same about my eyes which is why i’ve largely went away from the old film slr platform. but focus peaking on the new mirrorless units have really saved me! do you also use focus peaking for your A7III?

I haven’t practiced manual focus seriously yet but when I start I will definitely look into the focus peaking feature. That sounds super helpful! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Beautiful shots, especially the first one! My niche is cityscapes, but occasionally shoot cats and flowers, too. 🌼
