It took me two weeks of sifting through about 45 messages inquiring about a piano I was giving away on Marketplace and the Nextdoor app before someone was actually serious enough to come and take the damn thing! The biggest hurdle was that because the piano is so heavy people were not wanting to move it themselves and piano movers are expensive.
My daughter took lessons when she was very young so it hasn’t been played in many years. Also since we have gotten the kittens they bat their little toys under it all of the time and I was having a hard time retrieving them which is what really sparked my motivation to get rid of the piano.
I’m not totally sure what I am going to do with the empty space. I’m thinking maybe a big oversized comfy chair I could sit and read or drink my morning coffee in.

I am in the mindset of spending more money on myself than I ever used to be. Now that my kids are no longer kids but young adults I find myself shifting from “other focused” to “me focused.” As a mom I sacrificed my wants and needs pretty heavily throughout their childhood years and I would never do it differently if I could. But now, as I progress in therapy to treat myself kinder and to not look at self care as being selfish, I am able to allow myself to spend money on the things I want.
With this in mind I have decided to get Invisalign which are clear retainers to straighten my teeth. I used to have very straight teeth without ever needing braces but over the last 15 years or so they have shifted and became crooked on the bottom and one tooth on top has started to rotate some. Most people would probably not do anything to fix this because they really aren’t too bad but I am looking at it as a self care decision to make them straight again which will make it easier to keep them clean as well.
I’m very excited about this but also a little nervous because I am afraid the process may cause some headaches (or migraine attacks). On the other hand, my dentist said that teeth often shift over time because people start grinding their teeth while sleeping. Thinking back to when my teeth started shifting I realized this is around the same time my migraines started! So maybe this will actually help the migraines occur less often. We shall see.
What is new with you?
