As a gift for Christmas, I received a deck of cards that contain 100 photography ideas. I am so excited to have some prompts, or challenges as I may think of them, to keep me busy throughout the year.

The first card read, “Try a smoke effect.” I didn’t know quite what that meant so I did some research and it meant creating swirling smoke around objects or inside items like glass jars using props to create a mood. Most said incense sticks work well for this but I don’t have any and don’t like burning them because the scent can aggravate my migraines. Therefore, I decided to just take some simple pictures with my Sony a7 III of my unscented candle after I blew it out.

Here is a picture of it when it was lit.

Here is an unfocused picture of it.

A lit candle is often used as a symbol of hope and truth. I am hoping that this new administration doesn’t really mess everything up! Last night, I shared something that is close to my heart on my social media stories. I am not one to share political posts but I am hurting for people I love and have to express it in some way that may spread awareness of what is going on in this country and how horribly our leadership is treating people!
