Walking and Disconnecting

I made this picture of a man walking ahead of me while I was on a picture walk. Most of my walks are picture walks meaning I go out with the intent to walk around to take pictures, not for the sake of walking in and of itself. The exercise I get in is a bonus.

Sometimes I will walk around my neighborhood and leave my camera, including my phone, at home. That always feels a little strange, but also freeing since my phone is within reach of me most of the time.

I’ve been better at not spending a lot of time on my phone ever since I deleted the Facebook app from it. I still use my photography Facebook pages, but not my personal account. I was finding myself mindlessly scrolling just to pass any idle time I had and I didn’t like that.

Now I am reading more and listening to more music and podcasts and spending more time just watching our two kittens play, which is very entertaining!

Here they are napping after some playtime

What are your habits surrounding social media scrolling?  I hope better than mine were. Now, I just check Instagram and catch up on reading blogs in the morning while I am drinking my coffee and that’s about it for the day!

    Love the bridge photo.
I usually have my phone with me when I’m out of the house. Not necessarily for photos but just in case something happens. It’s a long up hill crawl back to the house that I don’t want to do again.
