Long Time No Nature Pics

I think these are the first nature photos I’ve made this year and it is almost March!! It has been a cold long winter and I’ve been a bit in hibernation mode. We had a mild day this past week, so I took a walk and captured these bare winter trees with my Pixel phone. The edits were done in Snapseed.

Another reason for the slowing down this winter is due to an uptick in my migraine attacks since last November. Things still aren’t great but I think they are moving in the right direction. I’m in physical therapy to help strengthen and reduce the pain and tightness  in my neck and shoulder muscles which will hopefully help some.

Lastly, I bought a new (used) lens for my Sony a7III. I have been using a very heavy sigma lens for a few years now and I’m just tired of lugging it around. I’ll still use it for more professional looking portraits, but I’m excited to try the new one out as my “walking around” lens. Should fare better for my neck and shoulders, too!

It’s nice to see you back, Sheila, I hope your pain eases down very soon. 🙏🏻 That is a great camera body. I recently picked up a 500mm lens, talk about heavy glass! The photos look very much like Michigan wood. Stay warm!

Thanks John. I love my Sony camera! I’m excited to try out the new lens. I’m tired of the heavier one. I never took it on long walks, only got out of the car and snapped my pictures. So I’m excited to go on nature walks now with this new one.

You are welcome Sheila. I tend to shoot from the car too as I can’t walk very far, it can really hurt. We do the best we can, right? The 26mm Nikkor is almost weightless when snapped on the Nikon Z30 body. I love that focal length, its very versatile. I hope to see some nature photos!

Thanks Mike. The new lens is a Sony 28-60mm f/4-5.6. I bought it used in like-new condition. It was very cheap, only $200. So I figured I didn’t have much to lose but much to gain with its light weight and small size and my goal to go on actual long walks with it. I’m excited to see how it performs.
